I am so sick and tired of it playing the same song every time I attach my phone to car play then have that song come up as my #1 song for the past two years in my stats, lol.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?

I wish that also as it done the same thing to me. I am not using Apple Music but my personal owned library if music and it’s annoying as heck along with not commanded starting the song

This worked for my wife in her Subaru Crosstrek
I was so excited for this till I went in and the autoplay was not selected.

When I connect CarPlay it automatically starts playing that song from Apple Music and it drives me nuts!

Next time you're in your car let the CarPlay start the music playing. Open the Music app and then swipe from the botton of the phone screen. Just to bring all the apps that are currently open (I think it is called Mutlitask screen?) and then shut down the Music app. The music will stop playing and it will not start automatically next time you connect to the CarPlay. It works for me in two cars (both BMW). The bad thing is that you will need to repeat the same steps every time you play something in the car, otherwise it will start playing automatically next time.

Note: it is not that it is the same song playing all the sime. It is whatever you have in the Play Next list, it will resume playing. But if you select a single song and the Play Next list is empty, it will be the same song that is played again. Hope it makes sense.

I do not have a play next list. It always plays the top sone in alphabetical order. When I went to the screen you told me to, the automatic play button isn't even selected! It is very annoying. I don't want it to auto play anything and there is no way to get it to stop!

I have at least one post, from way back before CarPlay existed, about a similar issue when I would connect my iPhone to some of the rental cars I had. It didn't happen with all of them. What I ended up doing was…on my Mac…creating a ten minute audio track of silence, naming it "AAA Silence" or something like that, and adding it to my Apple Music (or whatever it was called back then).

I couldn't stop the car from playing the first track but it gave me ten minutes to figure out what was going on.
