Universal CarPlay like apps? Alternatives?

Im sure apple would block apps that emulated the CarPlay experience from happening without buying one of their business partners car decks but has anyone had experience or know of an app with a CarPlay like experience/UI?

I've seen some but they haven't been update in a long time.
