CarPlay Maps

The biggest annoyance I have of Apple Maps is the fact you start it up on CarPlay and I gone into settings and found nothing on how to just keep the map showing the area and not trying to tell to a destination in my local area. I generally just Apple Maps to just show me the map so I can have traffic information of the area as I already know where I am going. Once I get the map and I stop at my destination I shut off the car and do my business and plug in it then does the same thing but showing home. After several taps I finally get the map and then go to split screen it goes back to a suggest destination then I have to go back and several more taps I finally get the just the map. This has been ongoing ever since iOS 14. I just wish maps would stay on the general map as a preset unless I type in a destination

I also like to have GPS displayed when just driving for basically the same reasons, but I find Waze is much better for that. It shows traffic better, plus things that people report, like police up ahead, or roadkill, pothole.....etc....

I don't like Waze for Navigation, for that I strictly use Google Maps.

The thing that irks me about Apple Maps is that even if you set it to 3D, it is still too much of an overhead view of the maps and not a more angular version that lets you see more up ahead in a more 3D fashion like Google Maps or Waze.
