Hi everyone.

I recorded a video of the Carplay bug #APictureTellsAThousandWords

Is anyone experiencing this? Been present since the betas

Cheers :)

My experience with Car play is it displays very differently and behaves very differently depending on how it's implemented by the car manufacturer.
You'd need someone with the same car to see if it behaves the same.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my car is touch-screen, doesn't seem to happen there

Make & model car, iOS software version (presume 26.0.1?) might be helpful for reproducing

BMW X4 M40i 2019, running iOS26.0.1.

Using touch screen you can't click "right", you just scroll down with finger. Have you tried using your car scroll wheel?

I've noticed it in every single 26 beta, on 2 different iPhones (15 Pro max and 16 Pro Max).

Seems literally no-one else is experiencing it? :/

That's true.
Did you try replicate it using your scroll wheel or just using touch screen?

If with scroll wheel, and it works as intended when you scroll "right" aka down a row, it must be on my end :/

I have a 2020 Mini Clubman All4 (which has a lot the BMW pieces/parts included the control wheel thingy) and my CarPlay does not “skip” in the sections as yours seems to.

Yep, exactly the same, the ‘faulty tick’ on the iDrive controller just moves the screen one line too low, selection itself is correct: count the tiles in that first row of Recently Added, and count the ‘invisible ticks’ after the ‘faulty’ one and there you go, selection has arrived at the second row that’s in view since the ‘faulty tick’. Definitely a bug.
Strangly enough this doesn’t happen in the other tabs, e.g. Home, New or Radio…

Thank god I’m not the only one!
So perhaps an iDrive bug? Or we thinking this is from iOS side?

In, I believe, the Home tab, I also have a header with two rows of tiles as content, and for this header/content combination it does work fine, one tick to the right on the controller goes from the header to the first tile with the screen scrolling down just one row (as opposed to the two rows at once for such a combination in the Library tab). To me, I'd say this is a iOS bug, iDrive is not aware of what it's showing, it does what it's told to do...🤷‍♂️

Fair enough - I think you might be right - iOS bug.

Insane noone has mentioned this/made a huge deal out of it. It’s completely senseless and massively visible.

Literally everytime you scroll down Apple Music library😮

mine is a touch screen -> not having the issue as with a touch interface one first changes the view and then changes the selection as opposed to the rotary controller changing the selection and the view is supposed to follow along... (?)

Yes thats right, the bug is only present with a scrolling rotary knob. Quite a big bug for a final release

I just reported to Apple via the feedback app too. Seems to affect wireless CarPlay for me and 26.1RC doesn’t fix it. Wired has been working an expected so far.

I was going to ask if they finally fixed the carplay issues in iOS 26. Ever since iOS 18.7, carplay would flash messages on my deck (i'd see it in my peripheral vision, but it would be gone as soon as I glanced over) , and the other day it just stopped working completely as if not connected. I had to tell iOS to forget the carplay connection, and re-add it for it to start working again. It still flashes messages periodically though.

This never happened until the 18.7 update.

Unfortunately the bug in this thread has not been resolved. I don't think Apple even bothers anymore to be honest :(

It's been present for 20+ beta versions of iOS26 - at this point - it genuinely seems deliberate
