CarPlay spoken text messages are now silent

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max running CarPlay on a 2021 Honda Accord Sport. Recently, text messages sent to me are somehow silenced. The regular notification pops up on my car display that I have a new text message, but I can not hear any text to speech.

I have CarPlay set to "Announce Messages" in the settings (see attached photos).

Any idea how to fix this?
