So, bought a new pioneer da-120 car play radio..

how do i add other apps to the CarPlay dash?

I've got spotify and beats music but they don't appear on the radio as apps?

Congratulations,I also have that exact unit for my car. I love it for carplay use. I'm afraid though that unless the version of the app added the functionality for carplay you won't be able to see them on the dashboard.

I'm using beats music and spotify, they should right?
 
Spotify will but at present, not Beats. Spotify is a bit flaky too. iHeart Radio works well.
 
I've had my eye on this unit for a while. Was wondering what you thought of it?

Also, any idea if this unit will ever allow for wireless connection to the phone itself?

I spoke to a representative from pioneer that told me wireless connection won't be possible because it doesn't have a wifi chip to support it. As for the unit I love it. I only use it for carplay but it can do so much more than that with extra cables. It can't play CD/DVD nor on-board navigation so it depends on what your needs are.
