  • Three
  • O2

  • GiffGaff

NOTE THIS IS BETA (as is USA but most have no issues).
Many users overseas have had their speeds quadruple and much better signal strength.

Give it a shot, see if it improves your service.

- Known issue: always "Searching"
-- fix: reset network settings
--- doesn't fix for all, restore may be required, 8.1 is still being signed however.

Follow steps below to remove the patch:

Revert Guide

1. In iFile or some other file system browser for iOS, navigate to var/mobile/Library/Carrier Bundles and delete the entire folder named iPhone.

2. Tap the remaining folder, Overlay, and delete all files located inside of the Overlay folder.

3. Exit the file browser and reboot the device 2 times. After the 1st reboot, allow the device to acquire cellular signal, then proceed to the 2nd reboot.

4. Your device should now be at stock settings.

after testing on my beta device, i've done the hack on my EE iPhone 6.

Signal Stock - 3 bars
Hacked strength - 5 bars

Speed Test Stock
ping: 60
upload:14.72
download: 20.13

Signal Test after Hack
ping: 36
upload:26.54
download: 18.01

Overall, very happy. Getting better signal in rural areas (especially old houses).

I can't see thee UK in that list :(

Will there be a Tesco hack at some point?

Not sure, I heard they use same as Giffgaff but I wouldn't take my word for it. Drop them a request (they do take them)

OK I have tried it for Vodafone UK, no signal :( tried resetting network settings and no better.

That's a shame. I was a bit wary however after testing it for a few days I was happy to install on my primary phone.
It's worked great. Maybe they'll push another update through.
(check revert link on how to go back if unsure)

OK, So this sounds cool. I will wait for a few brave souls to try it on the THREE UK network with positive results before I shall give it a try.

When I get back I'll link a reddit thread where people have tried. In the meantime do a search for carrier hack in /r/jailbreak

I don't normally do these types of adjustments but it's relatively simple with little consequences, and am genuinely surprised by my results. I wasn't expecting anything to happen. At all.
Hot spots all work too.... As do the 2G/3G/4G toggles.

Stick to the guides, make sure you backup and speed tests. You can revert should you get an issue, though a network reset then two reboots is a quick solution (otherwise just download carrier update).

this looks very promising as I am having a call quality issue in my office!

How can I set myself up? I use at&t on a jailbroken iphone 6 running 8.1

Tried it on Three UK and had no issues. Carrier version shows 20.1.1 and I can definitely see speed improvements.

It use to be around 1.5 Megabits inside my flat and now I get 5 to 8 :)

Sorry guys- looks like it doesnt work for me. Callers still say they can not hear me properly (same problem on my 5S, so its not an issue with my 6)

I was hoping to gain VoLTE, but just noticed it says its for at&t mvnos only.

I will remove it as i noticed a drain on battery.

------------------------------------------------------------

Edit!! The Schmuck that I am, I forgot to do a network setting reset. After the reset, my LTE speed tripled and made a phone call to my wife and she heard me crystal clear!!!

I hope its not a fluke, but I will try calling a few other people throughout the day.

I gave it a go, and it does seem to be quicker on 3G with THREE UK. I was getting previously 0.35 download on average, now I am getting about 0.80 download....so just over twice as fast. Tested at home where the 3G here is pants.

Not noticed any difference with phone signal bars though.

I will keep it on for now to see if it affects battery life etc, and to see how stable the 3G is.

It may be faster but 'could' be more unstable ?? will wait and see

Tried updating with the O2 link but it won't update. I've followed all the instructions but it's still showing as 18.0. Do you need to have an unlocked phone for this to work as inn currently locked to O2

This WILL NOT affect battery life. It is simply a carrier settings file that's loaded on every phone - you're simply replacing the one pre-installed. You just have the ability to access certain settings etc.

Nope, i'm locked. Did you enter the terminal command correctly etc?

Yeah I think so because I now have the drop down menu in my iTunes to select the right ipcc

That menu is always there (alt click). Make sure you select the ipcc file, let iTunes install and configure it. If you are struggling to do it if advise against it. Should only do it if you know what you're doing. (And so can save yourself from device woes).

I'm used to running commands etc. I have chosen the correct ipcc file but nothing seems to happen in itunes. Might have to start from scratch yet again

Just had a thought.......is this ipcc file only for O2 monthly customers? I used to be monthly but now on payg.

Have deleted the files using ifile and retried from the start but still on 18.0. Very frustrating
