Just wanted to clear some things up about USCC iPhones.

All USCC iPhones come partially GSM unlocked out of the box for international use, but are still locked domestically. USCC will remove the domestic restriction once you have paid off the device.
 
Can you explain unlocking as it relates to the US Cellular portion that Sprint bought? Or is that relevant?

If it's bought from a US Cellular vendor and has a USCC part number it's gonna have USCC's activation policy applied. The portion that Sprint bought would be branded as Sprint so you'd know if you're getting a USCC or Sprint one. USCC has made it really easy to unlock their phones, as long as the ESN is clean, you can get it unlocked, you don't even need to be a customer.
