Ok, so a second trip to my local UWS(NYC) Apple Store has confirmed that either the case back on my rMBP is malformed or the 2 screw sets by the screen hinge was not manufactured correctly - the screws stick out.

Unfortunately, I have the 2.6Ghz model and the wait time for a replacement is a while. Wish they had better QA at the factory for a $3k+ device but I understand that it happens.

One of the display models at my local Apple store had two screws sticking out, too. I thought the store guys had too much fun and opened it but who knows, maybe it is a QC issue.
