I wanted to test cell signal (LTE) in my house when using cases. IPhone XS was used.

The cases tested are: Apple Smart Battery Case for XS, Ringke Fusion-X (clear PC back), and Otterbox Symmetry (2017 model).

I used Speedtest app. Ran the test 3 times on each case back to back...took average of download and upload speeds. Average of the 3 runs is what you see posted below.

First round: Apple Smart Battery case vs. Ringke Fusion-X vs. NO CASE. Same location, same time-frame. 2-bar LTE noted throughout test.

Apple: 35.6 down, 0.40 up.

Ringke: 24.8 down, 0.49 up.

NO CASE: 37.2 down, 0.76 up.

Second round: Apple Smart Battery case vs. Otterbox Symmetry (2017). Same location, but different time frame than 1st round. 3-bar LTE noted throughout test.

Apple case: 34.3 down, 4.13 up.

Otterbox: 29.4 down, 3.46 up.

So, my conclusion is that NO CASE provides the best speeds, edging out Apple Smart Battery case. Among the cases i tested, Apple case is the winner.

It's a really ugly case, but these findings echo what some insiders have said: that the iPhone battery case is designed to minimize battery interference.

It looks fine for a battery case...all of them ugly IMO. It is really comfy to hold (but heavy) and i have dropped my XS a few times with it, last one from chest height, and it protected my XS. Can't ask for better.
