In preparation for getting my iPad & so I would have something to put it in on day one, I bought a cheap $15 "leather" case that mimics the Apple case. Here is a link.
it has a cutout on the back for the camera, but it does not have a cutout for the speaker. The case is open at the bottom and around the edges, so the bottom is exposed in the same area where the speaker opening for the iPad 1 would be. I watched a movie on the iPad last night and I must say that the sound is actually really good. I would almost recommend a case that does not have a cutout or holes in the speaker area because the sound is somewhat amplified & fires out the side rather than being muffled like I was expecting.
Hopefully case makers will actually test this out & find that in practical application, a big notch in the case is not necessary as long as the bottom of the iPad speaker area is exposed.
Anyone had a similar experience, or am I just talking out my ass?
