Do you think this case is likely to scratch the edge

Depends on the case... Yes I've had a case add some scuffs to my shiny bezel part of my phone.

No but the grit and dirt it collects probably will.

Good point surely any case will do that though weather it's soft or hard more so if its a gel will a regular clean suffice

I would actually recommend just putting it in a case and leaving it. If you continually remove the case you're more likely to scuff it.

The case might but you'll have more chance of scratching with the debris that can wedge between case and phone.
