Part 1: My iPhone has the mega-obscure back-glass gap that TUAW recently reported on. My network has promised me a new-in-box iPhone as a replacement.

If I do get my iPhone swapped, either for a new one or an Apple store refurb, where do I stand with regards to the Case Program? If I order a case now, will I get billed for it if I return my iPhone? Will I be able to order a case using the replacement iPhone? Does my 30 days run from my original purchase or the replacement?

Part 2: My network's dicking me around a bit and honestly I don't think they can be bothered giving me a replacement if they can just as easily give their scarce stock to new customers. So I may wind up going into the Apple store.

It's safe to say I won't have any ambiguity if I got to the Apple store, right? I mean they'll have arranged it so that warranty swaps work nicely with the case program.

Anyone else in this situation? Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks in advance.
