Case Recommendation

I have a black iPhone 5, and I take it to school with me everyday. I'm careful with my phone, but other people seem to not care. I've seen phones get stepped on, etc. I would like the case to look clean (preferably black) and have decent protection.

I have a Spigen Ultra Crystal screen shield on, atm.

I'm with a Spigen screen protector front and back and would recommend a bumper.

I use the PureGear Kickstand. I'm not a belt clip guy, but, like you, I am sometimes in situations that put the phone at some risk -- like cycling, hiking, soccer with the kids, etc. In those cases, using the clip cover really protects the phone nicely. It would probably even withstand being stepped on. The clip comes in handy if I want to secure the phone better in my pocket or clip the phone to my backpack or something.

During normal use and at work, I only have the back cover on, which has the retractable kickstand (I love the kickstand for when I keep the phone on the night stand as my alarm). The back case is a little bit weak for corner coverage around the glass (the only concern I have), but it's much better than nothing. I use a generic screen protector with this case.

With such a small criteria (black and decent protection), it sounds like you haven't even looked at cases on your own, because cases that fit those two descriptions are everywhere. You say that you're careful, which is good, so I would expect you to not need a bulky to keep that "clean" look. But then again, you do see people treating phones badly, and I agree, middle school is not the best place for phones.

Me too! I have the black iPhone 5 and thought this one looked better than the Sheer versions. I didn't like any of those colors plus I couldn't see the Apple logo through the back anyway so why go translucent.

Although I am currently thinking about getting either a Spigen Neo Hybrid Slim bumper or Spigen Slim Armor case.

i got a custom one at gelaskins. very tight fitting and not bulky which i like and cheaper than almost every other case. shipped pretty quickly too.
they have designs you can choose also.

I agree! But the white sides are slowly becoming dirty. I've also considered the Slim Armor, but I think coming from this case, it'll just feel so thick. And the lip is tiny compared to the Belkin. I've come to accept that the Belkin Grip Candy is the best case for me.
