Looking for a case suggestion for a hard or soft case that has great protection. My old iPhone 3G will be given to my young son as an media device and I want to make sure it lasts.

Any good suggestions?

Thanks.

speck candyshell is a nice case for protection and looks. also check out otterbox and ballistics cases for straight up protection.

Otterbox all the way.

For almost bullet proof protection get a defender series case

For slightly less protection get a commuter case

If the defender from Otterbox is too bulky for you, I would look at switcheasy.com. Those are GREAT cases! And they come with 2 screen protectors and other "goodies".

Yes, try out the Odyssey for some great protection, a lot of there other stylish cases have pretty decent protection too.

Otterbox cases offer the best protection but are pretty pricey. The Speck Candyshell offers probably 3/4 protection but looks better and is a lot cheaper.

OtterBox does not offer the best protection, the Trident cases do, ever heard of the Kraken or the Cyclops? Basically clones of the Commuter and the Defender but about half the price and way more protective in my opinion, especially the Kraken.

One to note about the Candyshell is that the rubber bit flakes terribly.
It will look nasty after a few weeks of use.
Some common complains regarding the Otterbox Commuter would be that the silicone layer would turn saggy.

Just some things to take into consideration before settling on a case.
