First time using the 12 PM without a case. Gotta say it actually feels better without a case and typing is much easier. Less typos. Gestures work flawlessly well too. But i wonder anyone who have been using the phone caseless face any issue with the bezels? Like fading away? Change of colors? Bezels chipping away?

Its because if i use a case and dust gets in between the case and phone i will clean it for sure as its a sore in my eyes. But without a case i wouldnt really care. But im afraid that the bezels would peel off as i have sweaty palms.

iPhones were and have always been designed and tested to be used without a case or screen protector to last you many years.

The only thing is, if you can personally accept wear and tear on your device over a long period of time.

If you're careful to not drop your phones (like I try to be), they look 100% mint used naked. The gold is actually hard to scratch, and steel not that easy to dent.

i forgot when was the last time i dropped my phone... even my phone holders drop my phone more than me -_-

I use my PM without a case. I’m very picky when it comes to cases and the only time I used one was with my last iPhone because my work required it. I chose a Speck which I actually liked and tolerated and used far longer than I expected. That last iPhone was an X, but with this one I love the feel of it and don’t ever have issues with dropping or banging it. I only ever had a drop once and that was with my iPhone 5 which I had repaired.

I just prefer iPhones without a case. And this thing slides nicely into my pockets and a case would only add to it. I’m 6 foot 1, but this phone still disappears for me. The graphite is really nice to look at too!

im just afraid that my sweat would damage the phone...

I’ve been using the 12 Pro Max since launch day (it’s PM) without a case and often times have sweaty hands. I haven’t noticed any discoloration or really any nicks or scratches on the sides, front, or back. My 11 Pro Max got way more scratches and dents, but this phone seems to be stronger. The other day my phone was resting on the couch next to the wall and I went to slap a bug that was on the wall. I accidentally slapped my phone which in turn slammed against the wall pretty hard. It didn’t get a single scratch or dent anywhere. I wouldn’t be worried about getting any damage unless it’s dropped onto a hard surface. I don’t think any discoloration would be expected either

Not sure if troll thread?

Its IP68 rated.
It can be submerged completely for up to 30 minutes.. at 6 meter depth..

A simple google search shows you that.

Unless you got that acid sweat.. sweat wont be doing anything to it. At all. Ever. Under any circumstance.

Yeah its ip68 rated but not sweat rated. Sweat is crazy. Destroys things faster than google can explain. Saying sweat wont be doing anything to it is a joke. Sweat even made my Tag Heuer change color tone. Even Tag Heuer blamed my sweat. But well what can i say.

Sweat is 99% water and 1% salt & fat. It literally will have no effect on your iPhone.

As Aceroller said above.. sweat is basically water.

OP if you are so adamant it is going to cause serious damage.. why even start this thread?

So you can try justify your personal stance against people answering with facts and logic?

Im pretty sure i didnt just talk about sweat. I asked about chips and color fading. Well if you think my thread is trash then why even bother coming to comment? And if you google there are 50/50 answers about the sweat issue.

Erm correct me if im wrong but people with older iPhones complained about sweat causing their bezels to fade or something. As bezels are painted and not the original color.

I had both my XS Max and my 11 Pro Max oxidize on the bottom right where my pinky rests, probably due to sweat.

With 12 Pro Max, the Apple silicone case covers the bottom, so no more issues.

One of these "50/50 threads" you talk about says the below

"Don't forget the bottom of a magic mouse is also rubbing across a desk and/or mousematt all day, that probably aids the pitting more then sweat."

and "It's supposedly the same material as what is used on their notebooks. I have never noticed corrosion on my MacBook Airs."

The above is particularly true.. Apple has been using Aluminium and steel as their primary materials for well over a decade now.. I'm sure if something like sweat would frequently oxidize or in another way diminish the quality of finish on their products.. they would be long done with those materials.
