I’ll be honest, I prefer wearing traditional watches though after a recent trip I’m considering upgrading my 2020 SE to the S8 or Ultra.

En route to the airport, my iPhone 14 Pro wouldn’t work, I couldn’t access any of my flight documents etc. Fortunately, I had decided to wear my SE and it was still connected to my phone which meant I could contact a friend to print off my boarding passes as a backup.

Eventually got my iPhone working, but the battery became awful. Got through my trip, and Apple then replaced my phone with AC+.

Anyway I became reliant on my watch and now considering upgrading. The S8 makes the most sense, but the Ultra and its battery is making me think that would be the better buy, even though it’s a lot more expensive and kinda big on my wrist.

What would you do in my situation, or just keep me SE?

Going to add data to my watch regardless.

If you need the watch now, I’d go with the S8. The Ultra may be overkill, especially if you’re just a casual user of the AW. Though if you can wait until the fall, you can see what Apple introduces with the S9 and U2.

My AW U works incredibly hard for me as I bought it to fulfil a particular function namely to monitor my fitness regimes. I don’t care what it looks like or what other people think it looks like. I don’t care what shirt I wear with it or what social function I’m attending. It’s simply a workhorse.

Stick with your traditional watches.

To echo others, I'd wait for a few months to see what the Series 9 will be. (Not sure if there will be a next generation SE introduced)

I'd say no to the Ultra, as you wouldn't be utilizing most of the actual "Ultra" functions.
