Hey guys!

I have a silly question for you today :)
My kittycat loves to walk on my laptop, I guess she hates Vista as much as I do! When I leave my laptop, to eat dinner or whatever, I always close the lid so she can't press any keys.

I was wondering if she could damage/dent the aluminium topcase of a MBP whilst walking on it?
I think she weighs around 3kg, if it's relevant :p !

Thanks!

she'd need to bring a sledgehammer ;)
but nah she wont.
my cat does it all the time, even sleeps on it couse its warm i guess.

Don't let her do it!!! Look what happened to another MacBook Pro after a kitten walked on it! :D

Just kidding. You might want to check out this thread: How much physical damage can the MBP take?

Why don't you just put the MBP away so the cat can't get to it? Does this really need a thread?

You OCD types crack me up. :D

Haha thanks for all your replies :D
I think I'll just cover it up whenever I have to leave my MBP for a short time, go totally OCD!

Mine sleeps on the lid of my MBP all the time, when I have it clamshelled. She'll also rub against the top corner of the lid when it's not, and try to bury her way between my MBP & my lap.

GGJstudios, how do you do that? It would take me all day to post that many links.
It takes only a few seconds to find existing threads on any topic, using MRoogle. The Forum's Advanced Search feature works well when looking only for thread titles.

I personally don't think this is a good idea. I too have a MBP and a cat. I've trained him to not eve get on my desk because he loves to chew wires. Anywho, if a cat walks on your lid when closed, it can slightly warp the screen over time. The best way to notice is to turn your screen off and look at the reflection. If it looks just like a mirror, your screen isn't warped. If it doesn't look like a mirror, then its probably just slightly warped. Not really a huge issue but it's a possibility when your cat walks on it. Secondly, his/her claws. I don't know about your cat but my cat loves to scratch things. Sometimes when he lays down, he kind of makes a fist with his paw, and that can cause a punch of scratches if it happens on your Mac. But yeah thats all, I'd just say its probably not a good idea. There are many other places for him/her to sit!

I dunno, I have a 2010 MBP. I worked at a vet clinic that let me have my computer at work. He had a shop cat. Who constantly walked on my keyboard.

One day she ran over it (it was on her way to one of her favorite sitting spots) and the eject key popped up and had to be pushed back on.

My big bunny jumps on mine from time to time and it is ok...my baby bunny is a LOT bigger than your cat :p

my cat loves walking/laying on my mbp.. I'm so glad she rather use my $2500 laptop as a bed instead of the cushioned one we got her. I have a speck see-thru hard case on the mbp and it protects it from everything so I'm not worried about it being damaged, cat or otherwise.

My cats love to sleep on my macbook pro... I keep it inside a zeroshock case and they sleep on that. No issues so far except their claws punch little tiny holes in the zero shock case surface. So I've taken to putting a magazine on it so they don't do that now.

As long as the claws are not scratching the surface, then there shouldn't be any problems.

Just don't scare it while it's on top of the laptop :D

Cats and computers don't mix full stop, mine used to sleep with her head against where the hot air was blasted out.

My friends cat sleeps on his keyboard, and you know when you've just drifted off and suddenly you hear the 'incorrect key' noise blasting out the speakers from OS X.

Followed by my Windows Laptop a minute later screaming 'DingDingDingDingDingDingDing' when he decides the mac keyboard just wasn't comfy enough.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with naughty cats! :D
My eldest one(13years old) used to chew the hands off of my Barbie dolls, and the little one (2years old) steals thing, knocks things over and runs/jumps on everything..

It doesn't hurt my current laptop, that thing's MASSIVE and badly scratched anyway (it scratches itself, believe me or not), but I wouldn't want it to happen to a MBP!
