I have two identical Macs. One is at work and one is at home. Both 2017 iMacs 27 inch with every possible upgrade at the time of purchase. I upgraded one to Catalina (at home) and left the work one with Mojave.

A bizzare thing is happening to the home machine. Whenever I use the Messages app in the Mac OS to send iMessages, it seems to take a long time. The top blue bar just goes on and on sometimes for 30 seconds. With pictures, it fails any that I copy and paste. It just times out. However, ones from Photo app work just fine.

So it seems like there is a bug in Catalina and the Messages app.

Anyone experience anything like this?

I cant't send files in iMessage that are on an other volume, after a minute or so, I get a send error.

I get the same issue too - not just files pictures or anything hosted on external/network volumes.

Some people have had other issue after the latest upgrade, all related to iCloud stuff not syncing properly. You could try signing out of iCloud, rebooting, then back in again. Another thing to try would be in safe mode (dunno if iMessages work in safe mode) or creating another user account and trying from there.

I have it on all of my Macs. Friend of mine has it also. Tried to log out/in, safe boot etc.
