Catalina keeps freezing

Does anyone else have this issue? It seems to happen roughly every hour when I take a short break. Is sleep mode or something broken?

I need to forcefully turn the computer off and start it again.
 
If I don’t force a restart, it becomes a kernel panic. In the history of all my Mac purchases, I have never had a kernel panic. What do they mean?
