Finally, I upgraded my mid 2009 Macbook Pro to Mojave, many thanks to brilliant Dosdude, after going back and forth many times between the Mojave and Catalina options. My decision was forced by necessity of two apps that I critically needed. The first "Mirror for Roku" required a Privacy permission to Microphone. The process was quite straight forward, first disable the "csrutil" in the terminal while running Dosdude Patcher, and then have the app request that authorization.
The second app proved to be the deciding factor- that was Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). While Catalina option could run only the buggy non-functioning 64bits ADE Version 4.5, the Mojave option allowed well functioning 32bit ADE 3.1. For me, ADE is critical for downloading library ebooks through ACSM.
