since acquiring my Mac Pro 2019, I’ve ran into a myriad of problems with macOS that are stumping me. First and foremost, I use my computer for music production. I’ve spent almost a week installing plugins to find out that these installers do not have access to the User>library>audio>preset for whatever reason. When I’m in Logic saving presets, the plug-in doesn’t know where to save the preset, so each plug-in tries to save to the same place or the last accessed, which is definitely not normal. For example, SSL bus compressor 2 “logic essentials” installer fails. So I peaked at the location through pacifist, and sure enough it’s default location was user >library. Another issue is when I download an installer from the internet with one of those manual ‘drag to shortcut’ installations (components, vst, etc), I’m not allowed to drag it in from the removable disc. I can, however drag the components to the same location manually on my computer.
Installing via pacifist creates the necessary folder at the user location.
All of my other macs are on Mojave and run normally, except this computer. I’ve called apple support, but I think this issue is over their heads as no one understands the problem I’m describing
