Hi All, I have not upgraded to Big Sur yet, but a Catalina Security Update 2020-001 10.15.7 showed up for us recently. When I tried to install it, I get an error. It says Try again. So I also went to safe mode and had the same error. Should I re download in safe mode then update? Any help would be appreciated. I already updated the safari update. Normally these go smoothly, but not this time. I'm sure it would go away if I upgraded to BS, but I'm not ready yet.

Well something was corrupt with my OS, I'm not sure what it was but I had to reinstall Catalina and that seemed to solve my problem. Backup with Time Machine FIRST. When you are in recovery mode I suggest that you erase the volumes first. Do not delete them. Then you need download Catalina through recovery. I tried to use a download Installer and saved in the applications folder but to no avail it did not work. Apple told me that the success rate of downloading the Installer through recovery mode is better. See the links below for more information.
