Wherever I hang my hat...
I was in this little village of Coniston, a couple of nights ago, and got some shots of the Black Bull pub, with the hills behind. In the earliest shot the hill looks like it's been sculpted - roughly - from clay. I enjoy seeing how the light changes, at this time of day (some things I really only notice when I'm reviewing the pix, rather than at the moment I'm shooting).

Anybody else want to post pix that kinda show what happens as the light changes? :)

Oh my...what a great idea for a thread! I have a bunch of these, and I should have some time tomorrow to dig up an example or two. Terrific photos, Doylem; hard to pick a favorite!

That is a good idea. I don't think I have anything that shows it in increments like you do but I'm going to go hunting.

Great thread idea Doylem! My Aperture library is on the other side of the world at the moment, but I do have something to share.

I planned a trip across the river in Quebec City to arrive for the blue hour, here are two shots 7 minutes apart.

Interesting idea. So which one is your favourite? I like 2 as I really like that point where the ambient light matches the practical lighting.

Here's the first set that came to mind for me. I shot this series almost exactly two years ago.

Favourite? Not sure... but I went into the pub, between shots. They brew their own beers at the Black Bull...

Light is a beautiful and wondrous thing. :)

If light was marketed as some magical new software, we'd all be waving our credit cards.

When I set my camera on the tripod, I generally set exposure values for what will happen when the sun appears between the clouds...

Where is that Doylem? Or more accurately, what is that exactly?

Great stuff. Sometimes I am reminded that we really don't have this wealth of "old world" type buildings here in the new world. We have our share of great landscapes though.

This is a great thread...kudos to Doylem.

I don't have anything to add in terms of shots (yet) but would like to say that I'm very interested in the way that we perceive light in an image and our personal preferences. I think we can all learn from this.

I'm the opposite of acearchie and, from Doylem's first set, I would pick 1 or 3 for the stronger contrasts.

Keep them coming. :)
