Categories Application- Add/Remove Icons

I don't need the hundreds of icons that came with the Categories application from Cydia; just about 5 custom ones. Where are the icons for the Categories application saved? What are the guidelines for making your own icon? If I add 2 or 3 folders (with about 10 apps in each) to instant-load using Backgrounder, how much speed will I lose (if any at all)?
