OS X Cave Story+ not running on Maverick

I just bought this game via a recent Humble Bundle, and it does not run on Maverick! I looked up the issue and it turns out it was running before the OS upgrade, but has not be patched for the Maverick. I'm incredulous that this indie classic is not playable on my MacBook Air, it grinds my gears!
