CBGB VS. The Homeless

The legendary punk epicenter is having legal troubles with its landlord.

As far as I can see it, it's just another tenant falling to the wayside to NYC development.

Here's the link to the N.Y. Times (you have to log in):N.Y. TIMES

I'm sick of all these idiot news sites with their super-secret logins. If it's free, what's the point...unless they just want to get your personal info for purposes of evil.

So why don't the Ramones or David Byrne or someone buy the whole building and make it a museum. Oh heck even Trump! ahha

That would suck even more.
CBGB'S is a dive bar in the middle of a slum. The term Bowery Bum was actually coined from the area. It's just that NYC real estate developers are squeezing "affordable" housing out of the city. They're doing it with Hells Kitchen, Tribeca, and now the Bowery.

They are cleaning up the city, and turning it into just another bland, safe place to visit.

Edit: This particular story is about a homeless organization that is trying to get a tenant to start paying a much higher rent in line with the newer rates of the neighborhood.
It's hard to side with a bar over the homeless, and even if everything is settled, the area will probably still go the way of Hell's Kitchen (a working/lower class neighborhood that is becoming less and less affordable).
