I just checked out CCleaner for Mac free version. It is really nice with some new features. I mainly use the App Uninstaller. I am wondering about using CCleaner and Onyx instead of CleanMyMac. I am bit hesitant because the Developers at CleanMyMac and MacPaw are Top Notch.

I erase the drive and do a clean install of the OS, followed by the applications that I regularly use from the developer site directly. No crap copied over from backups or cloning, just pure pristine like new installation of everything. Has worked for me for several decades.

Personal photos, videos, et all are stored on an external drive or NAS. All I need to do is keep a copy of my preference settings/passwords for said applications written down or printed out.

Simple. Effective. Bullet proof.
