Hi,

I have a MacBook Pro (running 10.6.2) with a broken optical drive and a PowerBook (running 10.5.8) with a perfectly good optical drive. I am trying to set up DVD or CD sharing so I can use the MBP to access a data disk on the PB.

On the PowerBook in Sys Pref -> Sharing, I have enabled DVD or CD Sharing.

The MacBook Pro however doesn't see the remote drive.

I then googled for DVD sharing, and came across an article https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/455975/ giving two commands to run:

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser EnableODiskBrowsing -bool true
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser ODSSupported -bool true

I can confirm these two options are "active" - running defaults read shows both options are set to 1.

So, I've done what I think is everything, but I simply cannot get DVD or CD sharing to work.

I have tested connectivity between the two machines. I am able to ssh from each machine into the other, and can use regular file and screen sharing from both machines to the other, so I am confident network connectivity is present.

Can anyone tell me what step I've left out?

Thanks.
