We're seeking an artist to design a CD cover (front/back) and 8-page booklet for a rock band by integrating original, full-color artwork in the Romantic style with photography. Artist will direct a photographer and does not need to be one. Regarding the artwork, a similarity to the style of Turner is desired and an understanding (experience prefered) with the format of a CD booklet is required. The booklet will contain lyrics, so accomodation in the artwork for such space will be necessary; the arrangement, font decisions and formatting of this text will also be done by the artist.
The concept of the CD booklet will be a gradient effect from the modern to the classical; our idea is to do this architecturally: a grand sky scraper to ancient palaces, none too precisely done, but rather obscured or embellished in a surreal or haunting manner. Overall, the artist must have a flair both for the dramatic, heroic and the dark, expressive.
However, we're open to alternative concepts; when hired, we will give a talented artist much freedom and the ability to control all aspects of the project, even beyond the artwork itself and into the photography - even to the dress of the band (to a degree) for the photographs, if so desired.
This IS a paying project. Submit samples of your work along with your BID. Your own artistic concepts for the project are also welcome.
Finally, the (very strict!) deadline for completion of the project is Aug. 10th.
