Pressing the "eject" key works perfectly (tower g5 mac), but it wont go back in :S, i can push it in and the computer recognises nothing, yet the eject mechanism works perfectly

Yep, sounds like it's broke. Have you tried going to the boot manager and seeing if it will see an OS install cd/dvd?
most likely a bad driver...
if the Eject is good, there is no mechanical reason to the Insert to be messed up, since the mechanical is the same to both ends (i think so)
soo, guess it's a bad driver software...
maybe a complete re-install?
I don't know any other solutions, but I think you should do a little more research, and leave the re-install for last resource.
