CD drive needs replacing - which one and where to buy?

In need of help! Despite being female I am sometimes able to perform self-taught technical miracles! But this time I am in the dark.

My CD drive on my old mac book 1.1 is rarely working now so I guess it needs replacing.

I read that its best to buy one online and either fit myself or take to a repair shop, rather than face high costs of mac repair shop.

I did loads of research online but still very confused. Which one do I need to buy exactly? I saw some on EBay but no idea which one to choose.

Can anyone help?

If you don't need it all the time you can buy a cheap external USB CD drive, which doesn't require you to mess around with your MacBook internals.
