CD/DVD Drive Mac 10.4.11

When I insert a CD or DVD in the drive
drawer, the drawer closes, then, within
seconds, it opens. This results in being
unable to open any CD's or DVD's on
my computer, which is an iMac 10.4.11.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
