Hi Guys
After many unsuccessfull attamps to burn a DVD on my Imac i realized it only has a cd burner!!
What is a good DVD burner and would you recommend an external or should i open the mac up ( and how) and get an internal?
My mac Book dvd player is also bust it seems. I can hear it running when it boots up but I can't insert a CD. It feels like the centre guide is permanently raised.
Again the question: internal / external, aspecially in view of needing two internal and possible only one interchangable external.
What are good reliable drives and what are possible conection issues
Thanks for your help
Guido

Why not buy an external from Apple? USB and portable....I carry mine around with my MBA:

Because it only works with a Macbook Air and not an iMac as the OP wants.

When I had the superdrive die in my old iMac - I bought a replacement from ebay and followed the guides found on this site. It wasn't difficult if you're organised about it and keep a note of what goes where!
