I have a MACBOOK, one of the black ones.
The CD drive is kind of going away. Sometime it will burn a cd/ dvd sometimes will not. some times I put a black cd and it ejects, sometimes it considered it black. Sometimes I put a cd that have been burn otherwhere and it reads have a black cd but doesn't burn...

I mean... it's not working well...

Is there any program that can run a specific test to the CD drive? like a disk utility kind of thing?

thank you

Sounds like the quality of the Media (CDs) you're using is low... More cases than not that is the reason for CD/DVD drives to not read or burn disks... Its the quality of the media you're using.

maybe not

I would agree with that IF when I eject the CD and put it either the desktop g4 on the office or in a collegue macbook pro, or in a other collegue macbook it works... and in my it doesn't.

Ask again so... is there anyway to test the drive to see if it's going through problems?

thank you for the answers already
