CD/DVD-ROM Rejecting Discs

I have a G4 Ti 500 Mhz Notebook. All of a sudden, when I stick a disc into the slot, it makes some whirling noises, then about a minute later it spits the disc back out. I have tried about a dozen different discs (DVDs, CDs) all of which are very clean. It even rejected a Lens Cleaning disc.

Please help, while I am on the road, this is about the only form of entertainment I have.

The drive is dead... well not dead, but it might as well be. its basically broken. it happened to my dad's 1ghz PB. only thing you can do is get it replaced.
