Just got my new macbook and im unsure of the loud POP & Click i hear when the CD is inserted and ejected. Is this normal?

The sound is exactly the same each time, the drive works fine though with CDs & DVDs i have even burned 3 discs, it just sounds a bit nasty and quite loud.

If this is normal i will feel ok.

Thanks

V

That noise scared the crap out of me when I switched from a G4 tower (Sawtooth) to a PowerBook. And some of my newer, switcher friends asked me the same thing. Indeed, it's normal...if it a bit loud and, well, crunchy.

Heh. The first time my girlfriend used the DVD drive in my iBook she thought she'd broken it and was scared to tell me!

They are rather noisy. :)

the first time my macbook woke up from sleep, the cd ejecting noise gave me a bit of a scare. but now i kind of like it.
