So here's the deal, I currently live in the US and I'm going to buy an iPad mini with cellular. But I can't make the decision if I should go with Verizon or AT&T. I'm leaning toward Verizon. I'm from Canada and at one point may want to take my iPad mini back with me. Would it be possible to use an iPad mini that was on Verizon in Canada? Or would I have to go with the GSM AT&T version in order to unlock it and use it in Canada? Any help would be appreciated!

If you want to use LTE in Canada, then you need to go with the AT&T model.

The Verizon iPad/mini cellular models will work on most carriers in Canada on 3G (UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA), but not on LTE.

Would the AT&T model work on LTE in Canada right out of the box or would it need to be unlocked?

Should be fine right out of the box.

Only thing is with Canadian carriers, you need to sign up on a flex data plan for LTE access.

The on device data access is 3G only last time I checked.
