Hi
My powerbook g4 which i have had for about 7 years.
Will not take dvds or cds they just pop back out after inserting
any ideas why, Has the super drive packed in ??????
Or is there a fix??
pc world or apple store to fix:mad::confused:??

What kind of CDs and DVDs?
Did they work before?

Also what Mac OS X version are your running (10.3.x, 10.4.x or 10.5.x)?

Did you update something?

Also a repair would cost you much more at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Repair shop (don't let Best Buy do that), than getting an external USB (slim) DVD drive (with DVD writing capabilities).

You can take a look at www.ifixit.com and see for yourself what an internal Superdrive costs and how to replace/fix it yourself.

You have a 7 year old computer and you're wondering why stuff might be breaking down? I can suggest one possible fix, and that is resetting the PMU. Also check to make sure that the Eject key or the trackpad buttons aren't reading as pressed for some reason. If it comes down to needing to bring your computer in, you can give a shot to either place but the parts are going to be few and far in-between for a computer of this age...Apple may have already listed it as vintage.
