CD's not mounting

I have a G4 Mac iBook - 1.07 Ghz running 10.3.9

When I install a CD or a music CD the computer will try to mount the CD (spinning sound) but then ejects it in a few seconds?
The same CD's mount on another laptop with no problem.
Checked under "finder" preferences and everything is correct and ticked.

Would reinstalling the "finder" with Pacifist be any good?

I am able to mount the original Restore DVD's with no problem.

Tried DiskWarrior but would not mount and disk is ejected even when I hold the "C" key on restart?

Would reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the original G4 software help?
