CD's unmount by themselves?

Ive noticed that when I enter a CD in my superdrive, about 1/2 the times the system will see it, then it unmounts itself. A simple mount in Disk Utility works and the disc will function properly. Anyone experience this?

Sorry I should have been more specific.

2009 24" alu. imac, snow leopard up to date, audio cd's exclusively. I have replicated it to the first time i insert audio cd's. if i eject and reinsert, then it is fine. Very annoying as i am inputing all my audio cd's in itunes and i have to mount/unmount every cd that has never been used on this computer it seems

I had that same problem too with my 20" Aluminium iMac (2007) in Mac OS X 10.5. I don't know how I have solved it, but did you already repair permissions via Disk Utility?

What are the settings in System Preferences > CDs & DVDs for audio CDs?

Have you tried MRoogle finding an answer?
