I need a good celebrity to research of going from awesome to total shi* because of their fame and their career; someone that has a lot of info and that would make one interesting paper.

I know there's got to be a few on the board willing to point me in a good direction. Thanks !

Hard to think of one that doesn't meet the criteria

Denzel Washington...haven't heard anything negative about him. As for the opposite end...surely the following as some have pointed out are archetypes

Britney Spears
Lindsay Lohan
Paris Hilton
Amy Winehouse
Downey Jr
MJ
Tyson

I guess Elvis is overdone.

And, how do you decide if they were actually destroyed by their fame? Some people self-destruct without fame. Is that part of the research?

How about Will Smith? My dad actually met him on a plane to Europe once and talked to him for about 45 minutes. My dad said he seemed like a nice, friendly, relatively normal guy.

Kurt Cobain.

Maybe overdone, but OTOH, his fame (and his wife...) was certainly a big part of what led him to his end. :(

Mike Tyson
Britney Spears
Lindsay Lohan
Michael Jackson
John Rocker
MC Hammer
Mickey Rourke (although he seems to be bouncing back lately)
Pearl Jam (they took on Ticketmaster...then look at what happened)
Anna Nicole Smith

Britney Spears doesn't count because she her last cd is doing decently well and she is still loaded by most standards.

Did she hit a rough patch? Of course, but her managers/people have done a very good job in enabling her to keep her lifestyle pratically intact and preventing what could have been a much worse burnout.

MC Hammer is iffy. I wouldn't say he got destroyed because of his fame as much as being destroyed for the reason Britney wasn't, his people. Him and Tyson spent every penny they had and then some because their people did horrible jobs of doing what they were paid to: make sure the money kept coming in.

Tyson also had the added issue of going to jail and biting holyfield, both of which was more about him going crazy than him being famous.
