I've been looking around but haven't found a good answer to this one. It's probably simple, just not having any luck.

So I have a watch with cell service and it's also hooked into my wifi. The problem I have is that the watch refuses to let go of the phone and switch over to one of those sources unless I'm a considerable distance from my phone and anything I was doing, i.e. streaming, talking on phone, etc., has long since stopped working. When I go for a run my music stream breaks up about the front door or so and then I literally have to be past the neighbors house before the watch will start streaming again. Is there an easy way to tell the watch to give up on the phone and switch over to another source for data?

Tried that, no luck. Started up some music and walked to the end of the driveway. Music totally cut out. Turned off wifi but the watch still showed it was connected to the phone and still no music streaming.

There’s a Bluetooth toggle in the Watch settings if you don’t want your phone disabling Bluetooth. Should be in the control center along with WiFi in my opinion.
