Cellphone modem for ibook

hey,

1.how hard would it be for me to use a bluetooth cell phone as a wireless modem for an ibook in places i can't get a connection?

2. will it be like using dialup?

3. would the ibook only have a connection when the phone has a connection?

4. Would the Simens S66 phone do the same thing that the Sony Ecresion S710 (i have the links to the cingular website with the phones below)

5. if any of yall have these phones could you just tell me if they have the ability to be turned on and off of silent with the side buttons(if there are sidbuttons) it can be quite annoying when your phone is next to a pen or something and it hits it and it goes off silent in class

5.. any other insightful information on the matter would be appreciated

i am sort of on a budget but if the sony would be a heck of alot better than the siemens than ill do it

Both phones are great and pretty much do the same thing, but the SE S710
uses Edge and theoretically will be faster on data connection.
Both phones will hook up as modems to your iBook via bluetooth, getting them to work is another story.
There are quite a few 3rd party scripts and programs to help you getting it to work for the SE but I don't know about the Siemens.
Question #2 is a yes.
Question # 3 is pretty obvious I think.
Question #4 is really a preference question.

I use my Nokia 6600 with my iBook via Bluetooth. The connection can be like dialup sometimes. There are times I get bursts that make the connection seem 56k'ish, and there are times that the connection is so slow it feels like a 14.4k modem. It can fluctuate based on the signal you're getting in the location, or other factors (varies between both speeds above while sitting on my desk at work).

I have T-Mobile, so my network is GPRS, which is rather slow. Yet with $4.99 T-Zones and a free proxy, it is nice for my limited use.

Also, it appears that my phone will not receive incoming calls when a GRPS data connection is in use, so beware of that.
