i have today installed NCsettings and have found in the notification center i can turn on/off 3G and Cellular Data, i always thought these were the same thing??

what i found was if i turned my 3G off i lost my network and NO SERVICE comes up in the status bar.

if i turn off the cellular data i just get the iPad sign in the status bar.

my questions are whats the differenec between these 2 buttons and was there a way on an ipad to turn off 3G before installing NCsettings as i cannot find one

cheers

the way it works on an iPhone (maybe same on iPad), is if you turn off 3G, you revert to EDGE (if your carrier supports it). turning off cellular data means you also turn off EDGE. my thinking is your carrier doesn't support EDGE, so when you turned off 3G, it's basically doing the same thing as turning off cellular data.
