After waiting for a long time, the Cellular Watch will be available from nov 5th in the Netherlands.

I’m still doubting to get the cellular, because I’m not sure how handy it is and the carrier that i’m with will charge €5 extra a month so you can use the Watch on their cellular network.

I’m curious how much you guys use it in the countries that have cellular for a long time.

Rarely. I think the most useful situation is when I go jogging or swimming. But the stainless steel model comes with cellular so ??‍♂️

I use cellular capability a lot, and to be honest I can’t even imagine using an Apple Watch without it. To me it’s as essential as activity rings. I have a Max size iPhone and I don’t usually take my phone when I run errands. Messaging the significant other is one thing I do the most often when I’m out. I occasionally receive/answer calls. Receiving important app notifications (online banking, PayPal payments, etc.) is also pretty important.

At the end it all depends on for what you use your watch. As for me, I just wish that Apple Watch had supported more bands as I sometimes experience weak signal.

I have the lte one and would use it while walking outside but I can’t open my door with my Nuki app just can open the apartment door without my phone. Niki Opener doesn’t work without an iPhone…

All the time. If fact, for me getting another AW in the future without cellular would feel like I was going back to car windows that you hand roll down. Just wouldn’t be practical for me.

Once last year when I locked myself out the house without my phone with me, that’s about it just like having it.

Thanks all for the responses!

I’m going for the SS Watch, so it’s automatically a Cellular Watch. The only thing is, is it worth to pay €5 a month..

My family uses it a lot. We do a lot of hiking in the mountains and it is nice to not be carrying our phones with us as well. It’s well worth the additional cost.

main question to ask yourself, is there ever a time you want to be connected, but not have your phone.
Do you often find yourself forgetting your phone, either at home when you leave, or in your car when you stop for an errand.

most people tend to have their phone with them all the time, since we're so used to having it in a pocket or purse and not really noticing it.

for things like running, you might not want your phone, so it's not bouncing around in your pocket, so cell on the watch could be nice.
For biking, it's easy enough to stick the phone in a saddle bag, meaning it's still close enough for the watch to connect.
for things like swimming, football, basball or basketball, where you're moving mostly in a smaller area, you could leave your phone on the sidelines in a bag, you might not have connection 100% of the time, depending on which section of the field you're in, but notifications should come in once you get closer to your phone.

If you're thinking about going somewhere without your phone but that place has wifi, then cellular wouldn't be needed. This could apply at the gym if you wanted to leave your phone in your car or locker.

a lot of functions on the watch will work without a connection, with Apple Music and Spotify, you're able to sync music and podcasts to the watch, so you can listen directly from there. you also don't need a connection to record workouts or use Apple Pay.

The hardest decision has already been made . . . your AW, since it's SS, will already have cellular. :) So try it out for a few months. I don't think you would want to go all all day on cellular as it seriously affects battery life. It's a very nice convenience to leave your phone behind for a few hours at a time, especially during the summer. I see so many people in the summer hold their phones in their hand where ever they go as they don't have a good place to carry it when wearing shorts or dresses. It's especially convenient for me when I do errands. I leave the phone in the car and just use AW for Apple Pay, etc. I feel there's less likely of dropping my phone too as there's less handling of it.

More often than I thought I would. I can run without my iPhone now. I can go to the store with just my watch. My wife is going cellular for her S7 now too!

Almost never. I like it as a backup in case I forget or lose my phone, but that's about it.

One benefit of the SS is that even if you don’t subscribe to the carrier plan you still make an emergency call. At least in North America that’s the case. I suspect it is in Europe too but not 100% sure.

It‘s not enough of a selling feature for me right now but I’m in my mid 40s and soon it will be ?

All the time. I like the convenience of not having to drag my phone when I go for a walk/run, shopping, etc. So much easier to run around/shop and not have to worry about where is my phone. It is especially nice when the store takes Apple pay so all I need is my watch.

You may know this already, but your watch doesn’t require an active data connection for Apple Pay.
