I have a problem establishing encrypted email exchange between my iPad/iOS8 and a Windows 7 PC. I have the feeling that I corrupted the iOS Mail Certificate registry.
Here is what I did:
1. I installed the certificate received with the signed email from the PC.
2. Then I was able to send an encrypted email to the PC. However the encrypted emails cannot be opened on the PC.
3. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the certificate, but when I open the certificate in iOS Mail I get the error message:
Signature Error - There was a problem reading the digital signature for this message.
It looks to me that a certificate for this email address is installed but now I cannot delete it to reinstall it.
I then deleted this email address from my Contacts on the iPad in the hope that this act would also delete the corresponding certificate from the Certificate registry. But that didn't work.
Does anybody have an idea how to resolve this problem?
I should mention that the exchange of encrypted emails using the same certificates does work between the Windows 7 PC and my iMac.
