I'm toying around with the idea of picking up a 24" Cinema Display to go with my 15" MBP. It's not exactly overloaded with input options however. I know it's the perfect compliment for my MBP, but what are the changes that Apple will change the mini displayport on future models of the MBP rendering my 24" Cinema Display obsolete? I tend to keep monitors much longer than the computers I own and would like to be able to use it with my next MBP purchase a few years down the road.

Apple has really just recently implemented Mini-Displayport. Apple stuck with DVI on their displays for a while, and even though they went to miniDP, you can still hook up the old DVI displays to the new notebooks with miniDP with a $29 adapter, so don't worry. The 24" display will bring you joy for years and years to come.

It's not even a year old, I wouldn't worry. I wonder if they'll come out with different sizes or lower prices this year. (crosses fingers)

The refurbs are going for $599 now. That's why I'm considering it.

Even if Apple discontinues the Mini-Displayport, I think they would make an adapter so you will still be able to use the 24in LED Cinema Display like how they did with the old ADC monitor cable.

Don't forget about emerging third party support for the MDP.
