Chance of getting a 3G iPhone without waiting all day or night?

I want to get the new 3g iPhone on launch but do not feel like waiting outside for a phone all day or night. I have waited for the Xbox 360 before and it was a nice feeling to have it on launch but just do not have the energy for this.

Do you guys think there is any chance at all to get the phone if I do not wait?

I heard they may release it at 6pm and in southern california it would be too hot to wait anyways?

If released in the Morning at 8am do you think there will be a chance to get it if I arrive at like 5am?

I am arriving at Fashion Valley if the iPhone does indeed go on sale at 8am. Basically the same plan you have. I think it will be fine.
