If this has been discussed, my apologies.
I am assuming Apple has retained the “guts” of the last Intel 27 inch to be released such that consumer upgradable RAM is still going to be possible.

Having NO electronic or design or production or marketing background however, it just appears that the time and effort to have internal or external modifications such as removing the rear RAM access door and changing the process to require soldered RAM seems unlikely.
Am I crazy to think that?

If Apple releases another Intel iMac before the Arm iMac, I suspect that the design will remain unchanged and just a spec bump type of update.

But, I personally do not think that Apple will update the Intel iMac.

So if you need an iMac soon, prefer having the Intel over Arm, or worry that the redesign will have soldered/non-user replaceable parts, the 2019 might be a good choice for you. This is especially true if you plan on getting BTO options.

Another thing to keep in mind is that no one on here knows what Apple's plans are for the iMac. No one knows if Apple will release anymore Intel Macs or a timeline for the release. No one knows if Apple will even continue the iMac line.

We are all speculating based off of rumors (or lack of them), history, and educated guesses.

I have read your quote a few times, I am having trouble understanding what exactly you are stating here.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are thinking that Apple will not be changing the ability for users to replace the RAM via an access door.

As I said, I think that the removal of the RAM access panel will not happen until the redesign.

With the redesign, either with Intel or Arm, I think that there is a good chance of Apple to remove user access to RAM. I also think that Apple may solder the RAM and/or Storage.

I hope I am wrong though, and Apple keeps things upgradable.

Sorry for any confusion .
I am speculating only about any last 27 inch Intel iMac refresh before any ARM iMac redesign, hoping any such (if any) last Intel iMac refresh will allow for user upgradable RAM

Personally I'd say that it's more likely than not that things wouldn't change in that regard.

But I'd not guarantee that either.

It's certainly not beyond the relms of possibility that that feature changes - if they release another Intel iMac.

Only Apple knows and they're not telling...

In the keynote they said that there will be new, unspecified, intel products.

You said it yourself: Unspecified.

There's more to the Mac world than iMac. There's the iMac Pro, Mac Mini, MacBook range and the Mac Pro.

The keynote could have been referring to any Mac product.
